US Hospitals Serve Toxic Food to Patients

This might look like a typical healthy breakfast to you (cereal, blueberry muffin, low-fat milk, orange juice, jelly and margarine), but to those of us who have studied nutrition from an alternative healing perspective, this is a nutrient-poor, highly refined and denatured breakfast that consists mainly of simple carbohydrates, refined sugar and bad fats. This breakfast is not healing or health supportive and is the type of toxic meal that can lead to many chronic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, obesity and cancer.

This meal was served to my mother this morning while she was being treated as a hospital patient at Good Shepherd Medical Center. My mother, who is a diabetic and kidney dialysis patient, is trying to recover from a gall bladder attack. After serving my mother this high sugar breakfast, the hospital server then asked her if she would like pork or chicken salad for lunch. The hospital then planned to serve my mother a meal containing saturated fat. Saturated fat is a known cause of gall stones. A meal consisting of animal fat and other unhealthy fats could potentially cause another gall bladder attack. What is even more disturbing, is that the hospital staff could not identify the ingredients of the food.

This food is unhealthy even for a well person to eat. It is also dangerous for people to eat food without knowing what ingredients have been added. This is especially so for people who are sick.

It is not surprising to see this type of food served in hospitals since it is supported by the United States Department of Agriculture and the American Dietetic Association. Both of these organizations also support the use of the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is a known neurotoxin, in products.  And, both of these organizations also tell people that all calories are equal. They have terribly misled the public leading to epidemics of disease in our country.

It is tragic that there are no healing foods available where they are needed most. Instead hospital patients are served processed and packaged cheap quality "food stuff" that weakens their immune system, supports the growth of parasites and that can cause other health problems. In my mother's case, the food served to her was deadly. Diabetics should never be served such high glycemic load foods. This is an unacceptable mistake which is why I immediately reported it to the hospital's clinical director, and why I photographed it to share with you. Unfortunately, this is the quality of nourishment and even attention and care that patients receive from most U.S. hospitals.

In my last blog, I mentioned to you that there are over 100,000 iatrogenic deaths each year in America. These are mistakes made by medical professionals who are overseeing the health care of the people that we love. I was reminded again today that it is absolutely necessary for each one of us to take control of our own health and to be an active participant when receiving health care. If you are unable to do this for yourself, then it is critical that you have someone that can help you make sure that you receive the care you need. This would be someone that you can trust to monitor everything that is happening to you, so that you do not receive the wrong food, the wrong medicine or the wrong surgery.

From what I have observed, in doctoring the sick, our health care providers have forgotten one of the most critical components of healing - FOOD! Food is an external substance that we take in internally. It affects every part of our body and its condition. This is a very serious problem that needs to be changed.
