Danielle Heard, DCN, MS, MS, CNS, LDN, INHC is a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Heard is a Licensed and Board Certified Clinical and Functional Nutritionist, Certified Nutrition Specialist®, Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Certified Natural Whole Foods Chef and the Founder of Artemis in the City, LLC a national Functional Nutrition Services company. Dr. Heard provides nutrition consultations and ongoing coaching to individuals, couples, partners, and groups who want to improve their health and wellness as well as the health of their family.

In 1995, Danielle was chronically ill. She saw many doctors and was eventually diagnosed with fibromyalgia and connective tissue disease. Determined to get well, Danielle began to implement alternative nutrition therapies and was able to heal from many chronic health symptoms and pain. Danielle has more than 20 years of experience in natural health and nutrition. She founded Artemis in the City, LLC in 2007 and has helped hundreds of people within the United States recover their health.

Professional credentials include a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition (DCN) degree from Maryland University of Integrative Health which consists of core coursework in Principles of Integrative & Functional Nutrition, Bioethics in Clinical Nutrition, Integrative & Functional Nutrition in Cardio-Metabolic Health, Case Reports in Functional Nutrition, Integrative & Functional Nutrition in Gastrointestinal Health, Integrative & Functional Nutrition in Immune Health, Nutrition Focused Physical Exam, Designing Research in Clinical Practice, Integrative & Functional Nutrition in Neurological Health, Integrative & Functional Nutrition in Endocrine and Energy Health, Nutritional Approaches to Detoxification, Epigenetics and Nutritional Genomics, Advanced Nutritional Residency & Research. 

Clinical & Functional Nutritionist:
Danielle holds a Master of Science in Human Clinical Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. The University of Bridgeport’s Nutrition Institute was established in 1977. This science-based clinical nutrition program consists of core courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Functional Medicine Nutrition, Clinical Biochemistry, Pathophysiology of Disease, Nutrition Assessment, Vitamins and Minerals, Biochemical Individuality and Lifelong Healing with Foods, Developmental Nutrition, Evidence Based Nutrition, Botanical Medicine, Nutritional Therapeutics and Clinic. UB’s clinical nutrition program is distinguished from other nutrition master's programs in that its focus is on Functional Medicine and its growing value in the prevention and management of disease.

Certified Nutrition Specialist®:
The Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS) is considered to be the
gold standard credential for advanced degree masters and doctoral

Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach:
Danielle is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Teachers College Columbia University's Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Program. Danielle has had the privilege to learn directly from leaders in the field of alternative health, medicine and nutrition which includes Paul Pitchford MS, Annemarie Colbin PhD, Elson Hass MD, Marion Nestle PhD, Michio Kushi, Barry Sears PhD, Peter D’Adamo ND, Mark Hyman MD, Joseph Mercola DO, Neal Barnard MD, Deepak Chopra MD, Walter Willett MD, Andrew Weil MD, John Douillard DC, PhD, Joshua Rosenthal MScEd and David Wolfe.

Core Training: Professionally trained to provide health and nutrition education, support and coaching techniques that bridge the gap between nutrition and personal growth. Trained to provide an integrative nutrition approach based on bio-individuality and body intuition as no one diet is right for everyone. Curriculum covered Nutrition Concepts, Modern Health Issues, Health Counseling, Philosophy of Living, Creating a Professional Practice, Healthy Eating, Anatomy and Physiology. Studied many different dietary theories from the traditional to modern - some of which include: 3 Season, 5 Element Theory, Acid and Alkaline, Atkins, Ayurveda, Blood Type, Candida, Integrative Nutrition, Macrobiotics, Mediterranean, Paleo, Raw Food, Pritkin, Vegan, Vegetarian, Ultrametabolism, USDA Healthy Eating Pyramid and the Zone.

Certified Natural Whole Foods Chef:
Her extensive health and nutrition training includes professional culinary training. Danielle is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts Chef Training Program and is a Certified Natural Whole Foods Chef. She specializes in natural organic health-supportive meal planning and cooking and honed her culinary skills under the direction of expert gourmet natural food chefs Annemarie Colbin, Susan Baldassano, Celine Beitchman, Peter Berley, Melanie Ferreira, Jill Gusman, Richard LaMarita, Jenny Matthau, Cheryl Perry, Elliott Prag, Barbara Rich and many others.

Health Communications Writer, Consultant, Strategist:
Additionally, Danielle holds a Master of Science in Strategic Communications degree from Columbia University in the City of New York, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree from the University of Texas. She has worked for many years in advertising, marketing communications and media for major corporations, agencies and clients.

Originally from the East Texas area, Danielle has a great love for nature, animals and gardening. Her fondest memories are of the time she spent with her grandma at the farm picking fresh vegetables from the garden, collecting eggs from the hen house and admiring all of the new babies that had been born. She thoroughly enjoys cooking beautiful healthy meals; studying subjects related to health and metaphysics; exploring new places, cultures and cuisines; meeting and talking with people, and listening to all types of music especially that of the 60’s and 70’s. Danielle worked and resided in New York City from 1998 to 2008. She currently resides in Longview, Texas.
