"Food Day is an opportunity to celebrate real food and the movement rising to reform the American food system." — Michael Pollan

Created by the nonprofit watch dog group Center for Science in Public Interest, Food Day is a grassroots event that will be held in the United States of America for the first time on Monday, October 24, 2011 and each year thereafter.

The event purpose is to bring together Americans from all walks of life in order to reform the food system into one that is healthy, affordable, fair to farm workers and that is also produced sustainably and humanely.

Food Day's Six Main Goals:

1. Reduce diet-related disease by promoting safe, healthy foods
2. Support sustainable farms & limit subsidies to big agribusiness
3. Expand access to food and alleviate hunger
4. Protect the environment & animals by reforming factory farms
5. Promote health by curbing junk-food marketing to kids
6. Support fair conditions for food and farm workers

Across America there will be celebrations, diner parties, conferences, film screenings, demonstrations, lectures, the building of community gardens and more! To find an event in your local area, click here!

If you would like to participate in the real food movement the most important thing that you can do is to ask your members of congress to support the "eat real" agenda on behalf of all Americans!
