When most people today hear the name Jack LaLanne, they immediately think of health and juicers. Known as the Godfather of Fitness, LaLanne was a fitness, exercise and nutrition expert, a celebrity, lecturer and motivational speaker. Over the years of working with clients, when I mention juicing, they overwhelming have responded with mentions of the Jack LaLanne juicer!

I feel certain that LaLanne was extremely proud of his accomplishments. He not only reached many people with his messages of health, but provided them with affordable products that helped people learn to take control of their health and get started on a healthier path.

LaLanne said, "I've got one thing in my life, helping people to help themselves." For over 75 years, LaLanne inspired people to exercise and eat healthy in order to live a long healthy life. He emphasized to people that, "Anything in life is possible if you make it happen!"

Beginning in the 1930's, LaLanne became a fitness pioneer. He often said, "People thought I was a charlatan and a nut." But, he never gave up on what he so strongly believed in which led to many firsts and the development of what is now the health and fitness industry. In 1936, Jack LaLanne opened the first health spa in Oakland, California. He later had the first nationally syndicated fitness television show which ran for 34 years. He also was the first to recommend weight training for athletes, women and the elderly. Additionally, he designed many of the fitness industry's first exercise machines, and he has also set world records for his amazing athletic feats!

On January 23, 2011, at the age of 96, Jack LaLanne left the physical world after experiencing respiratory failure due to pneumonia. I wish that I could have had the opportunity to meet LaLanne in person. We both have the same missions of educating and empowering people to take responsibility for their own health.  According to LaLanne, "Everything we put into our body is going to make you who you are." LaLanne believed that exercise was king and nutrition was queen and together they made a kingdom.

Jack LaLanne dedicated his life's mission to helping people help themselves feel better, look better and live longer. LaLanne believed that he was 40 years ahead of his time. His messages of health are very relevant and just as motivating today as they were years ago. But, his messages are needed now more than ever. LaLanne was truly a living example of health as he lived what he taught his students. Jack LaLanne will be greatly missed but his dream of helping people will live on through his many books, videos and inventions. For more information visit jacklalanne.com.
